MERITAS is the first research training program in aging tailored to the unique needs of surgical residents. Accepting 2 residents each year, this 2-year program provides rigorous training in health services research focused on aging and surgery. Fellows will have the opportunity to conduct research from concept to dissemination under the mentorship of multidisciplinary investigators with broad content and methodological expertise.
Fellows will receive a comprehensive training curriculum, dedicated statistical support from an experience biostatistician, and tailored mentorship from leaders in the field. They will spend 2 years at the Center for Surgery and Public Health at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. The position is hybrid, but fellows must reside in or near Boston.
The program provides 80% of salary funding. The remaining 20% should be provided by the home institution or an external grant.

be a surgical resident in good standing at an ACGME-accredited residency program
have completed PGY-2 or PGY-3 of training.
be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
be able to commit to 2 years of dedicated research time in Boston
