The Department of Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine seeks a fellowship-trained endocrine surgeon for an Assistant/Associate Professor position in Endocrine Surgery. The ideal candidate will be prepared to lead expansion of the robust endocrine surgery practice at one of the well-established, full-service Johns Hopkins system hospitals (Johns Hopkins Howard County). Fully integrated as a partner int the Johns Hopkins Endocrine Surgery Section and Division of Surgical Oncology, the candidate will enjoy collaborative clinical, research, and education opportunities as a Johns Hopkins faculty member.
Clinical responsibilities will consist of evaluation and management of endocrine surgical conditions, including benign and malignant thyroid, parathyroid, and adrenal pathologies. The candidate will be supported by established multidisciplinary referral bases, opportunities for participation in robust tumor boards for thyroid/parathyroid and adrenal diseases, and collaborative endocrine surgery colleagues within a thriving patient care practice. Candidates should have a record of excellence in education; trainee supervision and instruction are central to the position. The candidate will work with the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons-accredited Endocrine Surgery Fellow, Johns Hopkins general surgery residents, and medical students. The CORES lab (Collaborative Outcomes Research in Endocrine Surgery) provides structure for pursuit of clinical research. Johns Hopkins faculty enjoy access to multiple large databases support and opportunities for funding for pursuit of outcomes and education-related research. This opportunity will include limited general surgery call coverage (approximately 1 day in 7) working with a dedicated team of academic general surgeons during initial development of a robust elective Endocrine Surgery practice.
Applicants must have an MD or MD/PhD or equivalent degree, fellowship training in endocrine surgery, certification (or certification-eligible) from the American Board of Surgery and be available for a potential start date of 1/1/24. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-3 years of experience with demonstrated clinical excellence.
