Bariatric Surgeon – Loyola University Medical Center

The Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago (LUC) Stritch School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time academic Bariatric and advanced MIS Surgeon to join its comprehensive, multidisciplinary program.

The Loyola Center for Metabolic Surgery and Bariatric Care (MSBC) provides a comprehensive program of education and care for morbidly obese patients and patients with metabolic diseases. In addition to offering medical weight loss, the center offers surgery consisting mostly of the laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass procedure, the laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy procedure, and conversions from sleeve gastrectomy to gastric bypass. The medical, psychological, nutritional, and surgical staff are specialists in the surgical and medical management of obesity. The center offers a separate outpatient facility at our Loyola Gottlieb campus (hosting all the disciplines), regular endoscopy time, and robotic block time at our main campus in Maywood and at our Gottlieb campus. We are in the process of applying for a comprehensive center of excellence at our Gottlieb campus in addition to our longer standing site at the main Loyola campus.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with all of these surgical procedures. A medical degree and board certification in General Surgery are required, as well as fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery, with heavy emphasis on bariatric surgery. There also needs to be a commitment to education. Salary will be commensurate with experience and academic rank.
