Massachusetts General Hospital is a major teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School and Founding Member, Mass General Brigham. The Division of Cardiac Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital is seeking a full-time academic cardiac surgeon to perform procurements. This is a full-time position within the MGB heart and lung transplant programs to conduct organ procurements of both organ types at the MGH campus and hearts at the BWH campus. This surgeon will have an appointment at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital and an academic appointment at Harvard Medical School, anticipated at the Instructor level. We have an active program in recovery of organs from donors after circulatory death. Expertise in this area is desirable but not mandatory. The successful candidate will have opportunities to participate in both clinical research and laboratory research in organ recovery and resuscitation.
Surgeons of all levels of experience will be considered. Prerequisites include a commitment to the educational mission and an attitude of teamwork and collaboration within the Division, across disciplines and across Mass General Brigham sites. This role will provide independent evaluation and recovery of thoracic organs for transplantation, continuously review, and improve surgical recovery practices, and educate residents/fellows in thoracic recovery.
The candidate should also be qualified to be appointed at the Instructor at Harvard Medical School. Salary and academic appointment will be commensurate with training and level of experience.
