Position title: Musculoskeletal Physiology Translational Research
Salary range: The posted UC Salary scales set the minimum pay at the appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $124,100 - $225,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://ortho.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. We are seeking researchers to direct a cutting-edge, Translational Research program in Musculoskeletal Physiology and disease.
The selected candidates will be responsible for directing a successful research program, engaging in the classroom teaching and laboratory training of UC San Diego undergraduate, graduate, and medical students, residents, and service in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery.
The appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level and will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidates must have an MD or MD/PhD or equivalent, or PHD in Bioengineering, Physiology, Biology, or another Orthopaedics-related field.
Candidates with an MD or MD/PhD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates with a PhD must have at least two years of post-doctoral training.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with a minimum of 2 years of research expertise in basic and clinical aspects of musculoskeletal research, including bone, cartilage, nerve, skeletal muscle, or ligament/tendon biology, and an interest in human disease are preferred.
Candidates with a minimum of 2 years of record of collaboration, a track record of research, and minimum of 10 publications related to experimental and/or computational approaches are preferred.
Candidates with current extramural funding to support their research program are preferred.
