The Department of Surgery, University of California, San Francisco, is seeking outstanding candidates for a full-time academic surgeon with an exemplary record of patient care. Candidates must be board certified in General Surgery. Candidates who have completed a fellowship in abdominal wall reconstruction / hernia surgery are preferred. Qualified applicants should have expertise in open, laparoscopic, and robotic surgery for hernia repair and complex abdominal wall reconstruction. Candidates must have demonstrated leadership skills in health care systems and academic clinical program development. Applicants who have academic interests in surgical technology and health service research are preferred. Candidates will also be expected to take emergency general surgery call. The position will be primarily located at UCSF Medical Center and UCSF-affiliated hospitals and sites. Candidates will be proposed for an academic appointment in the Clinical X track.


Candidates must have recognized skills in the education of surgery residents and medical students and will be expected to be active participants in the Department’s residency training and educational programs.


The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. This position includes membership in the [health sciences compensation plan](https://ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/_files/apm/apm-670.pdf) which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.
