Empowering
Surgical Leaders
Nurturing the Next Generation
Since 2017, the Latino Surgical Society (LSS) has championed the development of Latino surgeons across all career stages, from medical students and residents to academic faculty and leaders.
Our Story
In the U.S., Latino physicians remain underrepresented in surgery. When LSS was founded in 2017 as a 501(c)(3) organization, our founders envisioned a robust pipeline of Latino surgical talent supported, visible, and thriving.
We believed that representation matters: for patients, for surgical culture, and for advancing equity in medicine. Since our inception, LSS has mentored dozens of students and residents, awarded scholarships, facilitated research collaborations, and opened doors to leadership roles.

Looking Ahead
As we grow, we are committed to scaling mentorship, expanding research funding, advocating for diversity in surgical leadership, and building a national network where Latino surgeons can elevate each other.
